Dr. Josh Ambeau PT, DPT

Dr. Josh Ambeau is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and founder of Physio360, a physical therapy practice serving Stonington, Mystic, Groton, Westerly, and the surrounding Southeastern Connecticut and Rhode Island communities. He specializes in helping active adults, runners, and athletes overcome pain, improve performance, and return to the activities they love.
A former collegiate football player at Ave Maria University, Dr. Josh earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science before completing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Rhode Island. During his doctoral training, he served as a graduate assistant for the Principles in Human Anatomy course at Oxford University, further developing his passion for anatomy, biomechanics, and human movement.
Throughout his career in outpatient orthopedics, including time spent as a clinic director, Dr. Josh has developed a special interest in treating foot and ankle injuries, running-related pain, and lower extremity conditions. He works with individuals experiencing Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, ankle sprains, shin splints, chronic foot pain, balance deficits, and a variety of running injuries.
As a runner himself, Dr. Josh understands the unique challenges athletes face when pain interferes with training and performance. His treatment approach combines detailed movement assessment, gait and running analysis, hands-on manual therapy, strength training, and individualized rehabilitation programs designed to address the root cause of symptoms rather than simply treating pain.
Dr. Josh utilizes evidence-based techniques including dry needling, joint mobilization, soft tissue treatment, movement retraining, and performance-focused exercise prescription to help patients move more efficiently and build long-term resilience.
At Physio360, his philosophy is simple: movement starts from the ground up. By addressing foot function, ankle mobility, strength, balance, and overall movement mechanics, he helps patients restore confidence in their bodies and achieve lasting results.
Whether you're training for your next race, recovering from a foot or ankle injury, or simply looking for expert physical therapy in Stonington, Mystic, or Westerly, Dr. Josh is committed to providing personalized one-on-one care that helps you move better, feel better, and perform at your best.
